Lawrence sure has had a few brushes with the law, mostly his fault and some well deserved but this recent one has me thinking of the possibility that he may be getting a bum deal.
From the facts we have now, he dialed at some point "phone a whore" and had a nice hot one delivered to his room at the hotel. Gifts were exchanged and after she got the big prize for her talents, Taylor tipped her for her delivery, $300 bucks, then went back to dream land in his hotel room to wake up refreshed for a new day.
Well, the girl was a runaway and 16 at best, the pimp was a child beater who forced her to have sex with men (slave master). The police arrest the pimp near her home and Lawrence, after awakening him from his beauty sleep.
What is more reasonable to believe is that Taylor's wife is right when she points a finger to a set up but not as you would think. Here is how I surmise it; Taylor is feeling kinda horny and being an x-jock and lifetime idiot decides to call the "hoochie shack" for some hot buttered loving, only to have this girl arrive at his door. With him half drunk and her totally developed, he decides to listen to his penis, after all he has done this many times by his own admission. When they are through, he gladly pays the girl for services rendered and gives her a generous gratuity. She leaves and he falls to sleep. The next thing he hears is police asking him his name and telling him to get dressed. He asks to use the bathroom but is denied due to evidence issues (understandable). He is later read his rights and told of the charges. It is at this point that he realizes what has happened and becomes aware of the huge trouble that he is in.
The creep pimp admitted to lying to Taylor about her age, Taylor admitted to having sex with her but an under-aged person can not legally consent in such a matter.
The question of motive arrives, you must ask yourself this question "why would a man who has had the opportunity to do this at any time in his life, pick now to try it?" he has had a self inflicted wound for so long that he would have been front page news to any journalist who had gotten even the hint that he was a child molester. This would have been big news and a chance for a huge "legal" payday, yet there never has been any hint of this.
I do believe the victim in this, is the child, who had troubles at home and ran away only to end up in the hands of an evil sub-human who took advantage of a sad little girl looking only to be loved and accepted by friends and adults. Lawrence just did not think to check I.D. Guilty of rape? Maybe (if you follow the book to the letter). Stupidity? Absolutely. But intent? No, nothing points to that right now.
